Village Nature Series
Venue: The Village Green Commons
The Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust and The Village Green sponsor a series of lectures each year from April through September. Visitors and residents learn about wildlife in the area and the various features of their natural habitats. The Village Nature Series will begin at 5:00 pm on the last Tuesday of the month at The Village Green Commons Lewis Hall on Frank Allen Road. - April 25th: "Investing in the Biodiversity of Cashiers: Creating a Sustainable Future for a Complex Ecosystem" presented by Sonya Carpenter, Ecologist and Native Plant Enthusiast
- May 30th: "Hiking to Heal: An Introduction to Forest Therapy" presented by Dr. Mark Elllison, Pinnacle Forest Therapy, certified Forest Therapy Guide
- June 27th: "Sense of Place: A Final Embarkment" presented by Dr. Gary Wein, Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust Executive Director and Botanist
- July 25th: "Cashiers Valley: Ancient Cherokee Travel Corridor" presented by Lamar Marshall, Research Director of Southeast Heritage
- **This program will be held at the Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library**
- August 29th: "Amazing Adaptations: Animal Ambassadors" presented by Brit Blackford, Education Director + Senior Naturalist at Balsam Mountain Trust
- **This program features live animals!**
- September 26th: "Composting 101: Saving the Planet One Orange Peel at a Time" presented by Cameron Ward
