About the hike: Join Dr. Brian Kloeppel, Western Carolina University professor, on this Panthertown outing to learn about the trees of Panthertown. The hike participants will be led to the Blackrock Mountain Overlook, stopping to iD trees and share information along the way. This hike will be a fun and informative excursion into Panthertown, and will also provide data to our iNaturalist species list that will inform management decisions, scientific studies, and the public for years to come.

About your guide, Dr. Brian Kloeppel:  I enjoy working with students at the undergraduate and graduate level and empowering them with the tools and techniques, both academic and professional, to grow and develop their careers in science, education, and the environment. In addition, integrating these students with friend-raising and fund-raising events has enabled us to increase resources for future faculty, staff, and students. My research and scholarly background includes watershed ecology, carbon and water cycling, forest growth and dynamics, and the policies regulating the conservation and management of these resources.

Limited space will be available. We ask that you prioritize which hikes you would like to participate in. Please limit the number of hikes you sign up for to no more than 2 per person so that more people may experience this program.
