New Book on the StoryWalk®

A new book has been posted on the StoryWalk® along the Cashiers Ramble in the Village Green. The book, Encanto, The Gift of Family, is based on the Academy Award-winning animated film released by Disney last November. Like all books along the StoryWalk®, it is written in both English and Spanish.

Encanto, The Gift of Family is the story of the Madrigal family who live in a rural village in the mountains of Colombia. All family members are endowed with a magical gift except for Mirabel, and all use their gifts to help their local community. Mirabel learns that she is a valuable member of her family and the community despite having no magic. What she has is a deep love of family, and her gift holds them together through hard times.

The bright and colorful illustrations of the book make it fun to follow along. Each page includes activities that anyone, any age can enjoy. The first page can be found near the Village Play, with subsequent pages following the Ramble path to the Post Office parking area.

A visit to The StoryWalk® is the perfect way to spend a warm spring day with younger family members and friends. It allows them to get outside, walk and play, and practice their reading skills. Because of the popularity of the movie, this new book is sure to be a favorite with local children.

New books are posted every 6-8 weeks to keep the content fresh and interesting. The StoryWalk® was made possible through a collaboration between Vision Cashiers, The Village Green, The Albert Carlton-Cashiers Library, and The Literary Council of Cashiers
