Hands On Jackson
Venue: Jackson County
We hope your will support the 2nd Annual Hands on Jackson event scheduled for October 3, 2019. Last year the community supported this effort in a big way and we were able to complete a total of 35 projects with the help of nearly 200 volunteers. This event is organized by the Hands on Jackson Advisory Committee which is comprised of human service agencies, volunteers, and businesses.
This collaboration is focused on providing assistance to neighbors in need through mobilizing community volunteer teams of all skill levels and matching them with needs. Jobs will range from installing energy efficiency measures, building ramps, or cleaning yards and gutters. Supplies will be provided to the teams in advance and will be purchased through sponsorships. All projects must be less than $1,000 to complete, be able to be completed in one day by volunteers, and cannot include roofs, major structure repairs, or items that require permits. A kick off breakfast sponsored by Duke Energy will start that morning at 8:00 a.m. at the Sylva First Baptist Mission and Fellowship Center before the teams report to their assigned jobs.
Volunteer teams, sponsorships, and projects are needed for this upcoming event. If you know of someone in your community that needs help please fill out the project sheet attached. Hands on Jackson is looking for team leaders now so if you belong to a group, club, church or business you can organize a volunteer team. To volunteer with a group or as an individual please complete the attached volunteer application. Sponsorships are also needed. We hope you will consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our effort and join our list of sponsors. Last year we were able to raise over $10,000 to help with unmet needs in Jackson County.
If you need additional information you can contact Mountain Projects, Inc. or the Department on Aging. United and together we can make a difference in our community!
Sincerely,
Hands on Jackson Advisory Committee
