COVID-19 TOUR UPDATE

Despite the fact that we have millions of stinging insects flying around our property, our top priority has always been the safety, health, and wellbeing of our guests. The COVID-19 pandemic is a rapidly evolving situation that changes by the hour causing tremendous uncertainty. As of right now, our tours starting in May will continue, but limited to only 8 people per tour. We will follow and adhere to all guidelines provided by the CDC, our county and our state. The tour, including the tasting & lunch, will be conducted outdoors where there is plenty of room to keep 6 feet apart. As the situation changes, we will keep all our guests informed and update our website with the latest information. We do ask that if you are feeling ill in any manner please change your plans. This is for your safety and the safety of all our other guests. If you need to cancel for any reason, we will refund your money or book you on another available date. Please give us 24 hours advance notice if you need to cancel

Come experience our natural sanctuary and the bees who call it home (or hive!)

This experience is about sustainable bio-diversity and the role of honeybees as the heartbeat of a healthy environment.  High in the middle of the Pisgah National Forest, our hive girls help keep the forest healthy and vibrant. The result of their pollination sorties is uniquely exquisite artisanal honey; all derived from the abundant natural goodness of the forest.  This tour is as interesting & delicious as our honey.

  • Learn about the life of a hive; it's Queen & the fierce loyalty of her female subjects, along with the crazy, wild things that go on inside, which will surprise you!
  • Learn about protecting our ecosystem and biodiversity through sustainable bee stewardship and honey harvesting practices
  • Wearing protective bee-suit, participate in a personal "meet & greet" with the bees.  Inspect a hive up close with the beekeeper, hold a frame full of bees and experience the thrill of a Queen siting.
  • Savor honey from the Killer Bees apiary, which like the terroir of a fine wine is an expression of place, time and weather.  Honey will be expertly paired with different foods for a light lunch, including champagne.
  • Learn about the qualities of fine artisanal honey and how to evaluate different honey varietals. Discussion of honey and it's properties is guided by the beekeeper, one of 4 Americans certified with the Italian Registry of Honey Sensory Experts.
  • Finally visit the Honey House, where you'll see how pure artisanal honey is processed. Straight from hives treated in the most effective organic methods available, tested by 3 independant labs, unadulterated and free from all agricultural toxins.

Killer Bees Honey is not a honey packer or marketing company. We do not purchase honey from other beekeepers.  All honey is harvested and hand bottled from our Appalachian forest apiaries managed by the KBH beekeeper himself. We control honey purity at every step of the process.  Our business is driven by a bee-centric approach, not profits, market share or sales volume.
